Final round primary voters in 7 states set tickets

WASHINGTON (AP) — Establishment Republican candidates were fighting off challenges from ultraconservative anti-tax tea party challengers Tuesday in the final batch of primaries ahead of the November midterm elections.

Republican hopes to capture control of the House of Representatives and possibly the Senate in a tough political climate for Democrats — President Barack Obama's popularity has fallen below 50 percent — have been complicated by the success of several tea party-backed insurgents.
