M2 PRESSWIRE-18 June 2001-EASTMAN KODAK: University of Texas, Austin awarded Eastman Product Grant (C)1994-2001 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD
RDATE:14062001
AUSTIN, TX -- University of Texas, Austin was the recipient of a 2000-2001 Eastman Product Grant valued at USD2,000 from Eastman Kodak Company.
The Eastman Product Grant Program has extended more than USD1 million in grants since its establishment in 1991. Grants take the form of Eastman motion picture camera film. They are extended directly to the educational institution, rather than to individual students, in recognition of overall program quality. Use of the film acquired is determined at the sole discretion of the school's faculty and administration.
"We are grateful for this support from Eastman Kodak," says Tom Schatz, chair of the Department of Radio, Television and Film. "Students in advanced undergraduate and graduate courses have benefited from this generosity."
"This product grant program rewards academic excellence by enabling film schools to undertake production projects beyond their normal budgetary scope and will enrich the educational experience of future filmmakers studying at this school," says John Mason, manager of Kodak's Worldwide Student Program.
The Kodak Worldwide Student Program was established in 1991 to support the future generation of filmmakers through a variety of educational initiatives: the Eastman Product Grant Program, the Eastman Scholarship Program, the Eastman Educational Allowance Program, the Eastman Educational Training Modules, a VIP Student News Service, and In Camera On Campus newsletter.
The Kodak Worldwide Student Program also supports workshops in cinematography, an Educators' Symposium, the Kodak Visiting Artists Program, Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Student Academy Awards, the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences College Awards and several special events.
The Kodak Worldwide Student Program is guided by a Motion Picture Educational Advisory Council made up of deans, chairs and department heads from leading film schools.
"As the world's leader in imaging technology, we believe it is our responsibility to help film school educators prepare the future generation of filmmakers for the vital role they will play in our society," says Mason.
